Semen Analysis

Infertility is not solely attributed to the female partner; it can also be a result of male factors. Modern lifestyles, stress, irregular routines, and poor diet can contribute to reduced sperm count, diminished motility, and deteriorating semen quality, significantly increasing the risk of infertility. ❗
In such cases, semen analysis becomes crucial to examine if the male partner is facing potential fertility issues 🐛💦.

Semen analysis is the key examination to evaluate male infertility and assess whether the overall semen quality is suitable for Intrauterine Insemination (IUI).

精液分析_工作區域 1-2

Liquefaction:At room temperature, semen can liquefy into a watery state within one hour.
Amount:≥1.5 Milliliters
Sperm Count:≥1,500,000 per milliliter
Motility:≥40%
Progressive Motility:(PR) ≥30%
Normal Morphology:≥4%
RBC/WBC count:Less than 1 million white blood cells per milliliter.

If the results of semen analysis are not as desired, assisted reproductive techniques such as Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) can be combined with in vitro fertilization (IVF) to improve the chances of successful fertilization.👌

Extended Knowledge: Sperm DNA Fragmentation

Sperm DNA fragmentation refers to the presence of incomplete DNA within sperm, often characterized by various-sized breaks. While these sperm may still exhibit normal morphology and motility, they can have detrimental effects on fertilization and embryo development.❗
Especially in semen with a higher proportion of DNA fragmentation, it can adversely affect the success rates of both natural conception and assisted reproductive techniques, and further increase the risk of miscarriages.💦
Traditional semen analysis only observes the appearance and motility of sperm, which is insufficient to determine whether the sperm possess complete and accurate fertilization capability.
DNA Fragmentation AnalysisBy utilizing specialized staining techniques, examining the integrity of sperm DNA in semen allows for a more comprehensive assessment of male fertility potential.🙆‍♂️
